Toyota to establish a new manufacturing facility in Maharashtra

Toyota, a Japanese carmaker, has announced plans to expand its production footprint in India by building a new vehicle manufacturing facility in the Bidkin Industrial Area of Maharashtra. With an initial yearly production capacity of about 1 lakh automobiles, the new plant is anticipated to start operations in the first half of 2029.
The Land Cruiser FJ is the most likely SUV type to be produced at the new site, according to industry rumors. According to Toyota, the plant will boost India’s position in the company’s worldwide manufacturing strategy by serving both domestic and foreign markets.
The 7,850-acre Bidkin Industrial Area, which is part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, has drawn investments from a number of significant businesses, including JSW Green Mobility and Ather Energy.
With a combined yearly capacity of 3.4 lakh automobiles, Toyota now has two production facilities in Bidadi, Karnataka. It is anticipated that the Maharashtra expansion will increase Toyota’s yearly production capacity in India to around 5 lakh automobiles.
