Motherson Inaugurates Advanced Automotive Lighting Facility in Gujarat via Marelli JV

Advanced Automotive Lighting Facility

Through its joint venture, Marelli Motherson Automotive Lighting India Pvt Ltd (MMLI), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd has opened a cutting-edge automotive lighting facility in Sanand, Gujarat.

MMLI is a 50:50 joint venture between Marelli Europe S.p.A. and Motherson. The 8,200-square-meter, recently opened plant is devoted to producing cutting-edge outdoor lighting solutions. It’s the first plant in India that can produce edge-to-edge, single-piece long lighting components, and it has high-tonnage multi-color molding machines that can reach 2,000T to 2,700T.

The company claims that the facility supports the production of India’s first single-piece, end-to-end Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and Rear Combination Lamps (RCL) and allows localization of the slimmest headlamp module.

With ambitions to acquire more green energy through open access, the plant also incorporates environmental measures, such as rooftop solar arrays.

The opening, according to Motherson Vice Chairman Laksh Vaaman Sehgal, reaffirms the company’s emphasis to innovation and cutting-edge client solutions. The plant is a significant step toward introducing international lighting technologies to the Indian market, according to Frank Huber, President of Marelli’s Lighting division.

On Monday, Motherson’s shares closed 1.08% higher at ₹130.82 on the NSE.
